The fifteen songs of Christmas Here’s an entirely personal selection of fifteen* favorite songs and singers for the Christmas season. Enjoy! *Yes, I know that the playlist contains sixteen songs, but I’m counting the two linked selections from “Messiah” as one. Share this:TwitterFacebookLike this:Like Loading... Related

Thanks, John. I never open “list” stories on the Internet, but of course I made an exception for you. Strangely, my only quibble is the Karen Carpenter song; not because it’s Karen Carpenter — you may or may not recall that she’s been a guilty pleasure of mine since high school, when “Close to You” was my anthem for Marianne in the years before I had the courage to ask her out — but because of what I consider an unfortunate lyric: “Logs by the fire fill me with desire.” I crack up inside every time I hear it.
Yeah, I know it ain’t Shakespeare, Ned. But Karen C., who also became a passion of mine, could sing the Orlando phone book, as far as I’m concerned. And by way, do logs by the fire *not* fill you with desire? In any case, I’m glad you enjoyed the playlist.
